On August 24 2019, Mount Hollis Lodge held its annual Installation of Officers. Of course, the headliner of this event is the incoming Master. However, all too often, lost in the shuffle is the fact that while it’s exciting to have the new Master come in with ideas, energy and so on, we forget the outgoing Master.

It has been a pleasure to watch George evolve as a Mason, from his first interview, going through the degrees, his contributions to events, and most-recently, his work as Master. He leave large shoes to fill for our newest Master. In his final Message From the East, he compiled a list of achievements for the year which was impressive! Here are just some:

  • Held a Summer BBQ Social for MHL Brothers and their families
  • Represented at Holliston Day dispersing information about the Craft and selling healthy fresh-cut fruit cups as an attention-getter, as well as having an entrant (“The Third Degree”) in the Chili Contest
  • Held a monthly Community Pancake Breakfast at the Lodge September through June
  • Initiated two Brothers, affiliated a Worshipful, and have vetted four additional candidates for this Fall
  • Held a Community Fundraiser Pork Dinner
  • Enjoyed a holiday dinner party and Yankee Swap, “Celebrating the Families of Mount Hollis Lodge.”
  • Attended the Feast of St. John at Grand Lodge where one of our own, Wor. James L. Holmes was installed as DDGM of the 15th South District
  •  Represented MHL at the Final Official Visits and dinners celebrating the outgoing 15th District North and South DDGMs, R.W. Alfredo Canhuto and R.W. Stephen Emery, the Quarterly Communication at Grand Lodge, as well as holiday parties held by the Medfield Acacia Club and the York Rite in Milford
  • Put together fruit baskets with Montgomery Lodge in appreciation of our local elderly Masons and the Widows and Orphans of our Brothers who now reside in the Celestial Lodge
  • Sent Seasons Greetings by mail to our out of state Widows and Orphans
  • Hosted a Valentine’s Day Dinner
  • Broke our previous record, making 375 hoagies, during our 27th Annual Super Bowl Hoagie Sale
  • Held a Spring Clean-up for the outside of the Lodge
  • Held a Blood Drive for the Metro West Medical Center
  • Donated funds to support Cystic Fibrosis Research, Wounded Veterans, the Holliston Food Pantry, the Boy Scouts
  • Held a training session to become certified in the proper use of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the Heimlich Maneuver, and Automated Electrical Defibrillators
  • Hosted dinner for the 15th South Lodge of Exemplification (Fellowcraft Degree)
  • Helped plate and serve the Past Master’s 15th North & South Combined Table Lodge
  • Hosted the Colonial Craftsman to perform the 3rd Degree
  • Worked on maintenance of the building including replacement of the Lodge’s front door and a couple of damaged windows in the dining hall, painting and decorating the front foyer
  • Laid plans for a new Doric Social Club

Truly a tough act to follow. Thank you Wor. Bro. Caldwell for all you have done!

Thank you, Worshipful George W. Caldwell III!
